Session Details

Thank you for your interest in
{ Autumn Lynn Photography }

Sessions can take place either on location, in your home, or at my home studio and generally last between 1 to 2 1/2 hours. I like to take my time to capture "You".

Location sessions can take place in a favorite park, in your home or anywhere you choose. I love going to new and different places, so we will come up with a location that is the perfect back drop you envision for you and your family's portraits. Often the most unexpected places make great locations for portraits.

Please keep in mind that the best time of day for shooting outdoors is generally just after sunrise or a couple of hours before sunset.  This is when the lighting is best.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM OUR SESSION?

You can expect it to be FUN!  Our time together will be laid back and relaxed. My sessions are playful. Don't expect there to be a lot of "posing". I will do some minimal directing, but for the most part, I want to capture your children naturally having fun.

WARDROBE

Newborns

Bare skin is my favorite to photograph on newborns and young babies. The less for them the better.

Kiddos

I suggest solid colors and light patterns, avoiding busy patterns, logos/words and cartoon characters. If your kiddos have any cute, funky and brightly colored hats, scarves, sunglasses, umbrellas, petti skirts, etc bring them along with you to our session. Accessories personalize their portraits and make the portrait more interesting. Make sure their shoes are in good shape and coordinate with their outfit- going barefoot is a really CUTE option too. Most importantly, you want to make sure that your child(ren) is comfortable and can move around in whatever they wear.

Family

The best way to go about picking outfits for family photo's is to pick two colors and have everyone in variations of the same two colors you pick. Green and brown, blue and grey, pink and green, etc. Co-ordinate! Please avoid everyone wearing a white shirt. Also, you don't want everyone wearing the same matching shirt. You want your family photo to be unique and not look like everyone else's family photo's. Don't forget to pay attention to what shoes everyone wears. You would be surprised how a pair of shoes can ruin a photo.

WHAT CAN MOM AND DAD DO TO HELP?

Make sure to treat our session together like a playdate!  If you act like you are having a good time, your kiddos will relax and they will have a great time time too and this will show in your pictures!

Sometimes it may be best for me to have a few minutes just one on one with your little one(s) so we can bond and there are no distractions. This is when I can get some of my best images. We will play it by ear and I will let you know... :o)

We don't want to tell your children to say cheese, because we dont want those fake smiles. Don't worry if they aren't smiling every second of the session. You want to capture EVERY aspect of them, and sometimes the little smirks, frowns and even tears define who they are more than a cheesy grin.  We will get both-so dont worry!

Bring only those members of the family who are being photographed. Children will act a lot more naturally when they don't have to perform for an audience.

Don't sweat the small stuff.  Allow kids to be kids. A stray hair or a little dirt on the face is only going to show who your child really is.

For the little kiddos bring a little baggie of treats that they enjoy (something that isn't messy). We will use this for bribery if we need to :o). Also, their favorite blanket, toy or stuffed animlal would be good to bring along too.

NEWBORN SESSIONS

I LOVE photographing Newborns. Being a former Neonatal ICU Nurse I am very familiar with handling these precious little ones. It is best that their newborn session be within their first 10 days, because that is when they are the sleepiest and will allow me to put them in all those cute curly positions :o). Also, Newborn acne and colic generally sets in at around the first two weeks. So, the sooner the better. The newborn session can take up tp 3 to 4 hours. Depending on the baby's needs. We will take alot of breaks for feeding and diaper changes, etc. Your little one should be dressed in something simple. If you have something special like a blanket, something knitted or that is just special to you, please bring it with you.
It is best to call me a month to 2 months prior to your due date so we can schedule your session "tentatively". We will make changes as we need to.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SESSION?

Within 48 hours after your session I will post a sneak peek on facebook and my blog of a few of your images from our session together. Then within 4 to 6 weeks I will send you a link to your gallery where you will order your images. You are welcome to share this link with friends and family for them to order as well. The Professional Lab I use is Pictage, the quality is superb and their customer service is outstanding. Once you place your order,
you should receive your portrait prints in less than a week.
